Viessmann Heat Pump and Solar PV Installation

Maria and Kevin Burnett took a huge step towards sustainability, installing an air source heat pump, solar PV panels, and a battery storage system at their four bedroom Dorset home.

Some of you may know Maria and Kevin! Maria is our office manager here at Bublshop; whilst Kevin manages our warehouse.

All the equipment for the installation was supplied by Team Bublshop (including a Viessmann air source heat pump and solar panels, plus a GivEnergy battery) and fitted by Dorset Energy Solutions.

Out with the old!

Maria and Kevin’s home had a gas heating system which was installed when the property was built in the 1990s. It still worked but they both wanted to improve their environmental footprint and future-proof their house.

Viessmann air source heat pump installation in Dorset. They chose the 13kW Viessmann Vitocal 150-A air source heat pump with integral instantaneous heating-water heater – perfect as it worked with almost all of their existing radiators and they didn’t need to fit underfloor heating. It’s also smaller than many comparable heat pumps, and uses the natural refrigerant R290, which has a very low GWP (global warming potential).

Maria and Kevin also had 14 Viessmann Vitovolt PV panels installed on their roof, which (coupled with a battery to store power) generate enough energy to feed their heat pump and charge an electric car. The installation was completed in April 2024.

Viessmann smart solutions

Viessmann manufacturers high quality, high-efficiency heating and renewable energy systems. All Viessmann products can be integrated into a smart home solution – called Viessman OneBase – which can be wirelessly and remotely controlled.

Offsetting the cost

They benefitted from a £7,500 grant through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, which significantly reduced the cost of the work. It is hoped that the cost of running the new system will be just £19 a year. We’ll share updates on their installation and its running costs in due course. So watch this space!
